Acute Care Hospitals are short-term medical care settings designed to deliver immediate and crucial medical care and treatment with the goal of discharging patients once treatment can be safely provided in a lower level of care setting. Acute Care is for patients who are suffering from serious injuries, disease, illnesses, or medical conditions, or who may be recovering from major surgery.

At Mangum Regional Medical Center we offer two distinct acute care services for our valued patients, these two services include:

  • Observation of an acute medical condition
  • Inpatient treatment for various medical conditions

Admission into our acute care unit involves treatment for multiple diagnosis with new onset of illnesses, ongoing long-term illnesses and for patients who are suffering from other extreme medical complications that need immediate care.

“Outpatient” means that a procedure does not require hospital admission and may also be performed outside the premises of a hospital. Mangum Regional Medical Center provides an array of outpatient services, including:

Wound Care – Comprised of full wound care assessments, tailored treatment plans, patient education, and support. We treat a variety of conditions that lead to skin breakdown and injury, including: foot and pressure ulcers, burns, cellulitis, fistulas, amputations, and more.

Rehabilitation Services – This includes physical, occupational, and speech therapy. Learn more under “Rehabilitation Services.”

After surgery or hospitalization, some patients require additional care. Our Swing Bed Program is 24-hour skilled nursing care plus the benefit of rehabilitation therapies to help patients transition home or to a long-term care facility. Swing Bed acts as a bridge between the patient’s stay at the hospital and their return home, allowing them to heal closer to home.

  • Our Swing Bed Program offers:
  • Chronic wound care management, including wound vac therapy
  • Complex ventilator management and trach care, vent weaning
  • Post-surgical care
  • IV infusion therapy, including extended high-cost antibiotic therapy
  • Speech, Physical, and Occupational rehabilitation
